The Copper Mountain Mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking an Assay Lab Sample Bucker at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12-hour, day shift schedule.
Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Assay Lab Sample Bucker
Location
Hudbay - Copper Mountain Mine, located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Sample Bucker is accountable for performing sample preparation, analysis, data assessment and reporting in a safe, efficient manner. You will work closely with the team to guarantee sample quality and provide accurate data to control quality and optimize mining operations.
Responsibilities
Practice Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality culture in the Quality Department by participating in safety meetings and upholding company policies and procedures,
Follows all Company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs),
Perform pre- analytical procedures such as sample preparation, processing and organizing,
Perform routine and non-routine analysis of samples to determine mineral properties,
Maintain accuracy and calibration of laboratory testing equipment,
Perform routine inspections on laboratory equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required
Maintain good record keeping of lab results, calibrations and preventive maintenance,
Identifies and records any abnormal observations in the process, reporting them to the supervisor,
Ensure that work order documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner,
Input data using relevant computer software programs,
Perform other duties as required..
Education & Experience
Post secondary education with Technical Diploma or Science Degree,
Previous laboratory experience is preferred,
Knowledge and understanding of quality control and quality systems,
Intermediate computer skills with MS office and LIMS,
Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment,
Hand-eye coordination and attention to detail,
High work ethics, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment,
Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis.

Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and have access to personal transportation,
Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions
Work requires the employee to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing work,
Environment is susceptible to the weather as a combination of lab and fieldwork is required,
Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as noise, vibration, chemicals and working in dusty and wet environments,
Work requires the employee to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on uneven work surfaces and work on elevated platforms,
Role may require the employee to work a non-standard schedule which may include shift work (other than day shift) in a 24/7/365 operation,
Work will require to be clean-shaven.
Rate of Pay
$34.17 / hour.
