AkzoNobel is seeking a Technical Service Representative (TSR) to join our Marine Coatings business. As a TSR, you will deliver hands-on technical services to customers, distributors, and prospects—providing expertise that differentiates us in the market. You’ll support the sales team by conducting technical reviews, leading product trials, troubleshooting application issues, and offering consultative recommendations. This customer-facing role is key to ensuring product performance, customer satisfaction, and business growth.Assigned Territory & Travel
This is a remote position that requires frequent visits to customer sites across Atlantic Canada, with a primary focus in the Halifax area. The ideal candidate will be able to travel approximately 35% of the time within the assigned territory, with limited travel to other parts of Canada and the United States.
Total Compensation
Base Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 annually
Bonus: 15% based on personal and corporate performance
Vehicle Allowance: $800/month + km reimbursement
Vacation & Leave: 3 weeks’ vacation + 5 personal/sick days + extra floater days
Retirement: Pension plan

Key Accountabilities
Assist and monitor customers on best coating and painting application practices in accordance with company specifications.
Troubleshoot customer application issues and provide effective resolutions.
Document non-conformance conditions with exception reports when issues are not resolved to specification.
Generate and maintain accurate records of product applications, environmental conditions, surface preparation, and coating performance.
Conduct inspections, verifying specification adherence and performing quality checks throughout the painting process.
Participate in product trials to support the sales team and help secure new business.
Requirements
5+ years’ experience in marine coatings application or QC inspections for surface preparation and coating inspection within a shipyard environment (preferred).
Knowledge of coating applications, techniques, and parameters.
Certification: AMPP, NACE I, Frosio Inspector III, or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, web-based reporting systems such as our CRM).
Must be eligible for Canadian Government Controlled Goods Program Security Clearance (details here).
Physical Requirements - This role involves working in industrial and marine environments. Candidates must be able to:
Climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
Perform tasks involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Handle, lift, and carry equipment and materials (up to 25kg).
Maintain visual acuity, depth perception, and color recognition essential to inspection work.
