The School of Cities’ mission is to convene urban-focused researchers, educators, students, practitioners, institutions and the general public to explore and address complex urban challenges, with the aim of making cities, urban regions and communities more sustainable, prosperous and just. The School supports scholars, practitioners, and community members to co-create new understandings, policies, and practices and fosters opportunity, insight, and knowledge exchange with a global reach.The Infrastructure Institute is a training, advisory, and interdisciplinary research hub based at the University of Toronto’s School of Cities. The Infrastructure Institute mission is to build local and global expertise in planning for civil and social infrastructure and we seek to refine collaboration
between public, private, and the not-for-profit sectors and become Canada’s hub for infrastructure training and interdisciplinary knowledge.
Under the supervision of both the Director of the Infrastructure Institute, and the Executive Director of the School of Cities, the Project Lead will be responsible for developing and running training and capacity building programs that support organizations undertaking community real estate development projects across Canada. The flagship program is the National Social Purpose Real Estate Accelerator, which provides training workshops, mentorship, and technical assistance and networking opportunities to non-profit organizations looking to develop their own projects across Canada. The Institute also runs other related programs that support public, private and non-profits in developing mission driven real estate projects.
The Project lead will be responsible for developing social purpose real estate training program workshops, managing program promotion and admissions, building relationships to generate engagement opportunities, drafting proposals, overseeing the operation and evaluation of the training and capacity building programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
- Assessing needs and contributing to the planning of research goals
- Fostering positive relationships with stakeholders
- Liaising with various stakeholders to foster collaboration
- Fostering cooperative working relationshipswith a wide variety of internal and external contacts
- Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Urban Planning or related social science field, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years experience in urban planning and related fields
- Demonstrated experience developing workshops for training programs with a focus on city building topics
- Demonstrated experience leading successful professional education programs
- Demonstrated experience creating industry, non-profit, and government partnerships in the real estate and city building sectors
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills, with demonstratable experience producing clear, well-structured reports and presenting findings to diverse range of audiences and stakeholders.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet strict and competing deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration skills; demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships at all levels.
- Advanced MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook
Assets (Nonessential):
- Work experience in urban planning, non-profit real estate development or community real estate an asset
