ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the management and development of staff. Provides oversight to, and is accountable for quality and service, regulatory compliance, work unit safety, strategic planning, document management, financial management, and developing and implementing new services. Works cooperatively with a wide variety of customers, as well as internal and external resources. Completes special projects as assigned by the laboratory consultant/director(s), administrator and/or operations manager(s). As directed, performs duties of a pathologists' assistant which may include, but are not limited to assisting pathologists in the preparation and performance of human surgical specimen dissection and human postmortem examinations; and providing assistance with and/or performing gross dissection of complex surgical specimens. As directed by divisional leadership, position may serve within the roles of death investigator under the auspices of the medical examiner; and/or program director for educational programs associated with assigned laboratory areas or specialties.

QualificationsGraduation from a NAACLS-accredited Master's level Pathologists' Assistant program AND four years of clinical laboratory experience required. OR equivalent grandfathered waived-status for Pathologists’ Assistant Masters’ degree AND eight years of clinical laboratory experience required.
Additional skills and Qualifications:
Must have demonstrated leadership, communication (oral and written) and problem solving ability. Must be highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently. Requires human relations skills to influence and motivate others. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Previous pathologists' assistant experience highly preferred. License and Certification:
Pathologists' Assistant (PA-ASCP) required.
