Hiring Unit: Department of Biochemistry Course Title and Course Number: Biophysical Methods in Biochemistry - BIOC 404 Name of the Course Coordinator: Prof. Martin Schmeing Estimated Number of Positions: 4 (Four): One TA per section of the course x 4 section Total Hours of Work per Term: 20 hours per position Contract Period: Winter Term 2026 – Monday, January 05, 2026, to Friday, May 08, 2026 Position Summary: With demonstrated experience in at least one of these combinations: 1- NMR OR 2- Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and crystallography OR 3- Electron microscopy OR 4- Mass spectrometry and biophysical techniques (e.g. ITC, CD, SPR) Be present at lectures OR run hands-on, in lab demonstrations. Participate in-class small group learning activities. Be available to answer e-mail inquiries or direct questions. Hours flexible. Mark quizzes, one section of the midterm/final; invigilate the midterm and exam viewing sessions. Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program within the Department of Biochemistry, or in another graduate program at McGill University, for the Winter 2026 term. Students have received demonstrated experience in one or more of the specialized fields listed above. At least one (1) year experience in the Graduate Program. Effective communication skills in English are essential. French is an asset.
