The opportunity:
The Centre Manager is responsible for successfully managing the ongoing daily operations of the Health and Fitness Centre by ensuring service excellence throughout the facility and adherence to all operational policies and standards. This is achieved by overseeing the sound management of the member service centre department budgets, program delivery, facility cleaning and maintenance, human resources, community relations and local philanthropy all in alignment with the Association Strategic Plan.

In this role, you will:
Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada.
Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership, facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.
Monitor and manage Centre health by utilizing a variety of management tools such as budget, member surveys and unison reports.
Develop and manage annual Centre budgets in conjunction with the Regional General Manager flagging significant variances in a timely manner. Achieve the annual budget as approved by the Board of Directors.
Ensure that the strategic goals of the Association are met through active participation in the leadership circle, regional groups and product groups as assigned.
Maintain a high level of service delivery by:
Achieving set annual sales and retention targets
Monitoring service and program quality by observing YMCA Best Practices and National Service Standards
Developing and implementing Health and Fitness programs that stimulate member growth and retention
Monitoring analyzing and responding strategically to membership trends
Maintaining a current working knowledge of industry trends on a local, regional and national level
Monitoring and responding appropriately to community needs
Ensure that the strategic goals of the Association are met through active participation in the leadership circle, regional groups and product groups as assigned.
Recruit, train, schedule, coach and evaluate an exceptional Senior Staff Team. Provide ongoing feedback and support to all Centre staff to maintain a strong culture of trust, unity and productivity.
Ensure that the facility is clean and well maintained as per YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and National Service standards.
Ensure that the Centre is in compliance with the guidelines and policies of all regulatory bodies. Document a local Centre emergency plan and ensure that all staff are trained and ready to respond.
Develop a working knowledge of all YMCA software to help make strategic decisions based on the most appropriate data.
Ensure a front-line presence during day, evening and weekend hours. Interact with members and participants on a regular basis to maintain accessibility and foster relationships. Provide leadership by walking around, demonstrated by on the floor leadership in more than one program / service area as well as being able to support all staff to deal with all situations that present themselves.
Maintain an efficient flow of information both internally and externally to ensure that staff, members, committees, donors and the community are well informed. Ensure that communication is clear, professional and effective as well as being in alignment with the YMCA values.
Achieve annual giving objectives by recruiting campaign chairs and volunteers to develop and maintain relationships with community donors and potential donors through stewardship.
Maintain, foster and create positive community relations in conjunction with the Regional General Manager.
Adhere to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
You bring:
Diploma in related physical education or recreation field
Proven customer service and business experience (2-4 years)
Human resource/supervisory experience will be considered an asset
Experience working in or in collaboration with or in a municipal setting will be considered an asset
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Must be able to work flexible hours based on client needs
Must be able to obtain and maintain required certifications including a Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening, Child Protection orientation, AODA training, Health & Safety Awareness training, Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) training, PCI Compliance, and others as needed.
Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED certification
Willingness to be able to work flexible hours based on client needs
Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including:
AODA Training
Health & Safety Awareness Training
Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) Training
PCI Compliance
WHMIS
Child Safeguarding Orientation
