PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Project Team Leader is responsible for executing daily tasks in our kitting / packaging line / co-packing assembly department. This is a hands-on Warehouse position. The Team Leader sets-up and runs assembly line work that can change daily. This person distributes work to Warehouse Associates monitors work progress actively, and completes daily paperwork to ensure quality assurance and productivity expectations are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leader Duties:
• Run daily pre-start safety meeting with staff
• Request internal or external temporary personnel and acquire/redirect staff as necessary
• Immediately and pro-actively deal with inappropriate conduct/performance and/or any unsafe behavior, escalating to Supervisor if required
• Communicating productivity goals. Work quickly and proactively to identify any concerns. Report results to Supervisor daily
• Administer effective training to team
• Prepares written notes for hand-off to afternoon shift as required
• Support the Supervisor with daily activities of our kitting department
• Help organize, prepare for, set-up, and run manual kitting/packaging projects (assembly-line style, light general labour, small kitting environment)
• Assign warehouse associates to packaging positions on the line, show them what to do
• Complete daily paperwork, ensuring accuracy and quality assurance is followed
• Check on line progress hourly, addressing bottlenecks or workflow issues, communicating quota expectations and checking quality/accuracy
• Escalate larger issues or feedback to the Supervisor immediately
• Responds to emails and prepares and sends paperwork as required
Work Order Execution:
• Reviews written work instructions, ensuring all products needed are available for packaging
• Sets up workstations for the project (example - moving tables, conveyors, machinery around to suit the specific set-up of each new packaging assignment)
• Assigns staff to work on the assignment, training them on the written work instructions and providing an hourly productivity goal to be met
• Monitors the work hourly once it has begun, ensuring instructions are understood and quality standards are being met
• Identifies bottlenecks and workflow issues in the packaging areas, troubleshooting and correcting on the spot (e.g. moving staff, examining set-up of products)
• Problem solves issues reported by the staff
• Escalates larger issues to the Supervisor immediately for same-day resolution
• Reports quota progress daily to Supervisor (in Excel and via Outlook email)
• Ensures finished kits or items are entered back into inventory, and/or providing information to Shipping as required
• Clean-up work station when finished, including ensuring excess inventory is counted and returned to stock, and ensuring tables/conveyors/equipment are clear and available for next assignment
• Ensures quality standards are maintained at all times (food and natural health products often handled, strict adherence to quality processes is required)
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Minimum 2 years experience in a warehouse environment
• Advanced planning, organizational, and time management skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good leadership skills, able to coach, train, and direct staff effectively
• Able to troubleshoot, set up and help maintain production equipment (handy/willing to work with packaging machines)
• Sufficient experience in Microsoft Office; able to generate reports
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma
• Secondary school Diploma an asset
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB:
• Warehouse environment, highly QA controlled and very clean. Ambient temperature.
• Ability to lift or move heavy objects (up to 50 lb).
• Ability to stand, bend, and walk around throughout the day.
• CSA-approved safety shoes required.
• Long hair must be tied up and no long/loose jewelry permitted in the department.
