About Us:
At the Saskatchewan Foster Families Association (SFFA), we are dedicated to supporting and uplifting foster families, fostering environments that nurture the well-being and potential of children and youth in care across our province. We are currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Childcare Worker to join our team and provide essential support within a foster home setting.
Position Overview:
As a Childcare Worker at SFFA, you will play a key role in supporting the daily care and well-being of children in a foster home. Your responsibilities will include a combination of childcare, light housekeeping, and assisting with transportation for family visits or outings. Given the dynamic nature of this role, flexibility and adaptability are essential to meet the evolving needs of the children and the family.
Job Type: 6 hours of 1-1 childcare support
Schedule: Evenings 4pm-7pm and weekends

Key Responsibilities:
- 1-1 support towards the child or youth
- Promote the child or youth through role modeling and guidance to respect themselves and others
- Organize and participate in recreational activities including outside play or structured developmental activities in the community
- Involve the child or youth on deciding how to spend time together
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the community service providers working with the child or youth
- Support the emotional and social development of children and youth
- Identify any signs of a child’s emotional or developmental challenges and discuss with the SFFA Program Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in childcare or early childhood development, with a preference for experience working with diverse needs and challenges.
- Must be at least 18years old
- A commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle and the well-being of children and families.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to provide a recent Criminal Records Check.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
