ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Student Life Coordinator.
SUMMARY
The Senior Mentor will provide support to the International Peer Mentorship program by providing support and guidance to new international peer mentors. The Senior Mentor will contribute to the overall success and effectiveness of the International Peer Mentorship (IPM) program, ensuring that both mentors and mentees have a positive and enriching experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support new mentors with their transition into the program by developing and conducting training sessions covering mentoring techniques, cultural sensitivity, and program policies.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to junior mentors, sharing best practices and addressing challenges.
Collaborate with program coordinators to plan and implement mentoring programs and activities.
Contribute ideas for improving program effectiveness and addressing the evolving needs of international students.
Maintain regular communication with program coordinators to provide updates on the progress of the program.
Report any issues, challenges, or successes related to the mentoring program.
Assist new mentors in addressing challenges or conflicts that may arise during their mentoring relationships. Escalate issues as needed to ensure a positive and constructive mentoring environment.
Support with social event planning and coordination with groups of mentors.
Serve as a role model for junior mentors by exemplifying effective mentoring practices, cultural competence, and professionalism.
Other tasks as assigned.
Previous experience working as an International Peer Mentor at KPU is an asset.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication and active listening skills.
Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to facilitate groups effectively.
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with students of diverse ages and backgrounds.
Ability to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility, work independently, establish own priorities, multitask and meet deadlines.
A strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion on campus.
Proven ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
Demonstrated sound judgment, sensitivity and problem-solving skills when working in stressful or complex situations.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
SALARY INFORMATION
Anticipated hourly pay rate: $23.00
