Job Description What is the opportunity? We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler to design, implement, and maintain logical and physical data models that support business intelligence, analytics, and operational data solutions. You will play a critical role in shaping how data is structured, accessed, and maintained across the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to build scalable and efficient data models that align with business requirements, utilizing both traditional relational modeling techniques and modern data architecture practices. What will you do? Design and develop relational, dimensional, and NoSQL data models for enterprise-wide applications and analytics. Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and software developers to translate business requirements into optimal data structures. Define and enforce data modeling standards and naming conventions. Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and security. Evaluate and integrate modern data modeling tools and frameworks. Participate in data governance initiatives, including data lineage, data cataloging, and metadata management. Support database administrators and data engineers in implementing and maintaining physical databases based on models. Review and optimize existing data models for evolving business and technical needs. What do you need to succeed? Must-have: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Proven experience as a Data Modeller or Data Architect, ideally in a mid-to-large scale enterprise environment. Deep knowledge of relational database design and normalization/denormalization techniques. Proficiency in SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle. Experience designing data models for data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms. Strong understanding of dimensional modeling (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema). Familiarity with data modeling tools, such as: Erwin Data Modeler IBM InfoSphere Data Architect SAP PowerDesigner dbt (data build tool) for modern data stack modeling SQLDBM Lucidchart or Draw.io (for lightweight modeling and collaboration) Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Azure Synapse Analytics. Understanding of metadata management and data governance best practices. Ability to communicate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Nice to have: Experience with data modeling in agile environments. Familiarity with Data Vault 2.0, anchor modeling, or other modern modeling techniques. Exposure to NoSQL data models (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure. Certification in data modeling or cloud data services (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Data Analytics, Google Cloud). What’s in it for you?
