Job Description: Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below: Provide overall daily supervision during the Christmas Assistance Campaign. Assist in securing a location for the Christmas Assistance distribution and coordinate moving supplies and equipment into and out of this location. Recruit, train, direct and work alongside volunteers ensuring all shifts are covered for the campaign. Keep accurate records of volunteer information. Receive and record all food, toy and financial donations in a friendly and professional manner. Represent and promote The Salvation Army to the community and businesses in a positive and professional manner. Post campaign; Coordinate the packing and clean up all equipment/supplies. Write a report detailing areas for improvement, what worked well and update contacts of all volunteers/organizations. Perform other position related duties as required CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Governance Boards and Councils: n/a Internal: TSA staff members, Hamper campaign team External: Community members MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Reports directly to Community Director Direct reports: n/a. Workflow coordinator for Christmas Kettle Workers. WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a temporary position. Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements. Work environment is typically in malls/stores Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Local travel is associated with this position. Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service. Money handling experience is an asset. Experience in office administration. Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL). Skills and Capabilities: Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting; attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs.) Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities. Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills. Honest, courteous, and punctual; prepared to act in the best interest of employer. Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner. Attentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. - Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
