About the Role
Mint Health + Drugs looking for a Finance Controller to join our dynamic and collaborative team. We are seeking a strategic and experienced Controller to lead our Finance function during an exciting period of growth. This position is more than maintaining the books—it’s about building a finance function that can scale with a fast-growing organization. You will oversee all corporate accounting operations, provide financial leadership to support strategic decision-making, and ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site, entrepreneurial environment and has deep experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite.

Key Responsibilities
Management and Leadership:
Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and General & Administrative expenses
Manage inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
Create and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
Manage outsourced functions
Oversee the operations of the accounting department
Maintain and adapt communication plans and messaging as required to ensure accounting functions can be completed easily and on time at head office
Account for discrepancies the pharmacies are having and provide assistance to store management from head office to reconcile discrepancies
Maintain the standardized Telus POS functions and ensure they are to be used the same way across all stores
Set up and maintain policies for future store set ups; for example, charge accounts, waived fees, 3rd party charges, and AADL
Ensure head office receives all 3rd party payables to go against A/R in NetSuite
Ensure procedures for receiving inventory at the store and on the POS in Kroll for both RX and retail are maintained and followed and are reported daily and included on the daily reports
Maintain 3rd party A/R in NetSuite with the daily reports from the pharmacies.
Review product cost and sales reports,
Ensure product cost and sales reports are accurate for head office use
Recommend products to sell and those nearing expiry to assist store managers with inventory management
Maintain and update a global vendor list and costs to restructure buying retail and home health products
Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems transaction processing operations, and policies and procedures; strengthen internal controls
Complete annual performance reviews for finance staff
Set annual goals for the finance team
Observe and practice safety/security procedures, reporting any potentially unsafe conditions or hazards
Transactions:
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
Ensure payroll is processed in a timely manner
Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
Ensure income tax provisions are calculated and posted monthly
Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
Review dividend payouts
Maintain the chart of accounts
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Maintain and ensure quality in a system of controls over accounting transactions
Ensure government remittances are completed in a timely manner
Reporting:
Issue timely and complete financial statements (monthly and quarterly)
Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report and support year-end close processes
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant variances to management
Provide for a system of management cost reports
Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Participate in the development of a long-term business plan with senior management
Compliance:
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
Comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings
Strategic Leadership Expectations:
Collaborate with executive leadership to set and monitor financial and operational KPIs
Lead enterprise-wide budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
Provide strategic financial input on key decisions including expansion, acquisitions, and investments
Optimize financial processes and controls across multiple locations and business units
Drive automation and process improvement initiatives in coordination with IT and operations
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA or CMA preferred
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a controller role
Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting role.
Accounting experience in multi-site operations and healthcare or retail sector, a definite asset
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling
CA or equivalent designation preferred but not required
Demonstrated ability to develop KPIs and dashboards for management decision-making.
One year of payroll experience with Ceridian Dayforce (preferred)
Experience of liaising with external accountants, auditors, and legal advisors
Experience & Skills
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency with ERP systems, ideally NetSuite. Experience with system implementation, optimization, and automation workflows is a strong asset.
Very strong interpersonal skills.
Has led a team of 10 with excellent communication, leadership and mentorship skills
Experience in companies who have over $50M in revenues.
Experience in Consolidation accounting
