POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, and working from the Calgary
Corporate Office, the Financial Accountant (currently working remotely) will be
responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and
consolidation systems and related internal controls, assisting with monthly
financial reporting, handling complex accounting transactions, and performing
other general accounting duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform monthly group consolidation on a rotation basis with other staff
accountants

Reconcile general ledger accounts and research variances as required

Analyze financial information to evaluate and compare various performance
indicators and financial data

Assist with the preparation of tax, managerial, and accounting packages

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages

Assist with preparation of semi-annual and annual financial statements and
the Quarterly Financial Reporting Package (QFRP)

Ensure compliance with financial accounting requirements and policies (IFRS)

Research and document complex accounting transactions and the application of
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as applicable

Document accounting policies and procedures

Prepare and document period-end controls to ensure compliance with the
company's internal controls framework

Assist with year-end audits

Assist with ad-hoc projects

Assist with preparing corporate budget vs. actual cost reports and perform
variance analysis

Assist with posting corporate journal entries in the corporate entity at
month-end

Review the work of junior accountants on an as-needed basis
REQUIREMENTS

University degree in Commerce, Business, or a related field
-
Professional designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) or nearing completion
-
Minimum 3–5 years of related work experience

Working knowledge of IFRS
-
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
-
SAP consolidation experience
