Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As part of the Mechanical Engineering team, your role will be to lead the mechanical systems design as well coordinate across engineering disciplines as the technical project manager. What you will do The HVAC Controls Programmer will function as an important part of the controls engineering department and be an integral team member in a fast-growing and dynamic company. The successful candidate will be expected to handle the responsibility of managing multiple projects with limited supervision, while reporting to senior level engineering personnel. How you will do it Design, develop, and write programs for DDC controllers specifically for custom HVAC equipment. Interpretation and development of detailed equipment operations sequences to be used as the basis for controls program development. Commission, troubleshoot, test, and maintain HVAC equipment controls systems to ensure equipment is functioning per specifications and intended design. Operate proprietary software tools to aid in the design of the controls system. Interface with customers and other project stakeholders on technical issues related to controls, providing training where applicable. Support service department as required on field related controls issues. Assist with the development of controls system operations manuals and technical brochures. Assist with the development of new and innovative product lines and refinement or continuous improvement of existing products. Read and interpret job specifications produced by engineering consultants related to the design of HVAC controls. Interact with controls production staff; perform periodic inspections of systems under construction. Interact with quality control personnel and assist with implementation and enforcement of the company’s quality assurance program. Develop and maintain relationships in many aspects of the business including support for estimating, business development and sales, production improvements, and marketing. What we look for Required: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering with (HVAC experience preferred). Knowledge in setup, wiring, and networking of DDC controllers. Knowledge of drawing electrical circuit schematics using computerized drawing tools such as Autodesk AutoCad. Knowledge of electrical control circuit design and control panel layout. Hands on experience with one or more of the following control technologies: CAREL, Distech, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Allen Bradley. Experience with controls communication protocols, specifically: BACnet and Modbus. Technical experience with DDCs/PLCs and BACnet/Modbus integrations. Knowledge of DDC programming languages: function block and structured text. Knowledge of web programming languages JavaScript and HTML5 preferred. Knowledge of general-purpose programming languages such as C++, Visual Basic, and Python an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills. Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple tasks, with little supervision. Ability to work individually and as part of a team. Commitment to continuous technical learning and personal development, both self-directed and under the guidance of others. Ability to accept assignments on short notice and perform under occasional stressful situations on tight deadlines. Preferred: Industry experience in HVAC equipment controls programming preferred. HIRING SALARY RANGE: $73,000 CAD - $104,000 CAD (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
