COMPENSATION With this opportunity, Ground Support Division, Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions(DSI Underground) offers a competitive compensation package including: Extended Health Care & Dental Benefits, Life, AD&D & Travel Insurance Employer Contribution Pension Plan Work Boot and Prescription Safety Glasses Allowance Free Parking Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, minor electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment, machines and facilities Performs emergency / unscheduled repairs of production and packaging equipment Performs scheduled maintenance inspections and repairs of production and packaging equipment Reads and interprets equipment manuals, engineering drawings, work orders, and other information sources, to perform required maintenance and servicing Responsible for knowing and following all Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, DSI, and Site Safety and Health rules including maintaining a safe-work environment by enforcing a strict standard of housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work areas utilizing 5S principles. Communication: Provide input and recommendations for equipment purchases and replacement. Recognize unsafe acts and corrects the situation, making suggestions on creating a safe and healthy work environment. Communicates with co-workers, management, and others in a courteous and professional manner. General: Troubleshoots presses, furnaces, threaders. conveyors, saws and automated production lines Uses lathes, mills, welders and grinders to aid in repairs and maintenance Works closely with Production & Maintenance Supervisor on various projects and preventative maintenance Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions Completes other duties as assigned to meet business needs. Qualifications: 2-3 years’ experience in an industrial environment. Solid hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics. Responsible for knowing and following all Standard Operating Procedures, Occupational Health & Safety, DSI and site rules including maintaining a safe work environment by enforcing a strict standard of housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work areas utilizing 5S principles. Education and / or Requirements: Legal entitlement to work in Canada. Previous related experience in a production or manufacturing environment Ability to communicate effectively using the spoken word in English High School Diploma or G.E.D. required Post-secondary education in mechanical technology or related field Skills: Self-motivated, analytical, and accountable Strong leadership and problem-solving skills Basic computer skills Demonstrated positive attitude and work ethic Ability to understand and provide troubleshooting on all equipment. Continually strives for improvement Eagerness to learn and take on more responsibility Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and seek more opportunities Offers additional help when required Willing and able to learn how to maintain new equipment Ability to work effectively in a multifunctional self-managed work group. Physical Requirements: Continually handles objects weighing up to 20 lbs. and occasionally objects weighing up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk and stoop, kneel or crouch. Occasionally required to climb or balance, lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
