Job Description Plan, organize, direct, and supervise the department program which includes recreational, restorative care, pastoral care, social work, music therapist and volunteers. Implement and evaluate program relating to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents. Coordinate activities with those of other departments and inform administration of departmental activities, needs and problems. Develop departmental goals and objects. Actively participate in program delivery. Develop, implement, and monitor programming budget. Satisfy Health Record as they pertain to the department (MDS experience an asset) QUALIFICATIONS Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university required Knowledge of the concepts of Restorative care, Holistic care, Activation and Dementia Care Minimum one-year supervisory experience Experience in planning, developing and evaluating effectiveness of individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and have a command of the English language. Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner Knowledge of community resources, program development, MOHLTC standards Previous supervisory experience in long term care an asset Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required Designated Lead, Volunteers At least one year of experience with seniors in an organized program or one year of experience with persons in a health care setting required Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement and supervision of volunteers required In Ontario, Extendicare, ParaMed Home Health Care and affiliated organizations including our partner homes in Extendicare Assist, accommodate the needs of job applicants throughout its recruitment and selection processes in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
