PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Apply your expertise in technical training to deliver flawless training programs that align with our performance targets and business strategies. Your role will be vital in ensuring our operations teams are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver Precision Scheduled Railroading (PSR).
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Schedule, deliver, and support training sessions aligning overall business strategies and performance targets for the Operations department
Coordinate and manage courses, programs, and examinations, revising content as necessary to adhere to policy or procedure changes
Assist in the development of structured training plans and deliver courses according to established curriculum guidelines
Accurately enter training records into the Learning Management System (LMS) for Train and Engine (T&E) and proactively address any emerging training issues
Provide continuous support to client groups, field managers, and new hires, ensuring they receive the necessary training and resources
Evaluate on-the-job performance of trainees, maintaining confidentiality of classes and employee results
Be prepared to deploy to various locations to support operations as needed
Deliver training sessions at remote terminals to ensure all employees receive consistent and comprehensive training
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma
5 years of experience in a railroad operations role with a preference for extensive experience in T&E, with the capability to train various client groups
Active Conductor certification with a preference for Locomotive Engineer qualification
Outstanding safety record as an operational employee
Understanding of collective agreement issues related to training
Knowledge of Adult Education Principles and Instructional Design
In-depth knowledge of the technical subjects being taught; familiarity with (LMS)
Experience in applying business knowledge to the area of accountability
Strong facilitation, interpersonal skills, presentation, and leadership skills, especially when working with client groups and unions
Valid driver’s license
Valid passport with ability to travel to U.S./CAN without restrictions

This is a safety critical position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
