Job Summary:
This position is responsible to provide transcription services within the department, proofreading and finalizing documents for clarity and accuracy. They maintain the departments directory and filing system to support efficient recordkeeping, document retrieval, and overall workflow. This position is also responsible for preparing files for Medical Review Panels, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Transcribe various documents including summaries, letters, board decisions, memos, agenda meeting minutes, handwritten notes or edits. Proofread and deliver documents with necessary copies.
Prioritize work received from several department staff.
Request and receive files from Doc Processing for Medical Review Panel cases.
Update eform when summary and decision are complete and sent out, this helps Board Services to track the appeal progress and gather statistics and metrics.
Access claim information and retrieve data from claims system.
Prepare files for Medical Review Panels for all parties
File material for the Team Leader and the Assistant to the Board and maintain filing system on a regular basis.
Maintain word processing directory including creation and editing of department templates.
Instruct new employees in department on processes and procedures.
Answer the telephone, relay calls, take and deliver messages for assigned staff as needed.
Qualifications:
If it is determined that there are no qualified applicants for the position and the employer decides to underfill the position, the employer will select the internal or external applicant that most closely matches the posted qualifications.
If the overall qualifications of external and internal applicants are deemed to be equal the internal applicant will be given preference.
One (1) year successfully completed post-secondary training in office education plus completion of a Medical Terminology credit course OR a Medical Transcription Certificate.
One (1) year successful experience demonstrating the ability to do the following:
Knowledge of punctuation, spelling, composition of business letters and grammatical usage.
Proficiency in transcribing at a rate of 50 net words per minute.
Understand medical documents such as diagnostic and specialist reports and providing transcription services of such documentation.
Use word processing equipment.
Transcribe from recording devices and handwritten edits.
Use modern office practices and procedures.
Good clerical aptitude.
Establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees.
