Job Description What is the opportunity? We are looking for an Analyst to contribute to our Vancouver-based Canadian Equity team at RBC Global Asset Management. Participate in collaborative team discussions of prospective investment decisions, to generate investment ideas, contribute to portfolio construction, and support overall strategy development. Independently conduct fundamental analysis of the Energy & Utilities sectors and individual companies, focusing on business factors such as financial performance, competitive position, corporate strategy, and quality of company management. Develop and adapt sophisticated financial models using Excel to evaluate company performance and assess valuation metrics, considering factors such as commodity prices, operational costs, and growth projections under a variety of scenarios. Remain current on trends and specific events that might impact the outlook of industries and companies. Foster relationships with company management, sell-side analysts, industry experts, and other stakeholders to gather proprietary information and enhance research capabilities. Engage and evaluate company senior management teams through one-on-one interviews, conference calls and group meetings. Present investment recommendations to portfolio managers, articulating compelling investment theses and providing insights into potential risks and opportunities. Pro-actively provide portfolio managers with timely stock ideas, utilizing various fundamental, technical and quantitative techniques. What do you need to succeed? Must Have Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field Direct experience in equity research, investment banking, or a related field. Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques, including discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, comparable company analysis (CCA), and precedent transactions analysis. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment and contribute to a culture of excellence. Genuine passion for the stock market and a deep understanding of the basic elements of equity analysis Comfort with adopting and leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and insight generation in the equity research process Nice to Have Advanced degree (MBA or CFA Level I or above) Experience as an Associate Equity Analyst Knowledge of the Energy and Utilities sectors Technical skills in Bloomberg, Excel, Python, Visual Basic, etc. Familiarity with applying AI and automation to enhance efficiency and insight generation in equity research What’s in it for you?
