We are looking for a Controls Engineer who will be responsible for designing various mechanical devices that will be vital in developing machinery and/or large structures and working closely with our team of Project Managers, Shop Personnel to ensure project success. We are looking to add someone to our team who is a lateral thinker, able to navigate complexity and embrace ambiguity. It is crucial that our Controls Engineer promote a positive company image through safety, quality, consistency, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and update electrical schematics, layouts, loop diagrams, and Process and Instrumentation drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring control system documentation supports manufacturing and integration
Design and implement new controls systems, including PLC/DCS programming HMI development and SCADA integration
Design controls systems for the integration of customer supplied equipment
Create, expand and maintain engineering standards and design libraries
Develop extensive knowledge of product line, preferred practices, and all applicable industry standards
Regularly communicate project status with key stakeholders
Select appropriate instrumentation (eg. Transmitters, sensors, valves, actuators, etc.) based on process requirements and industry standards
Always conduct oneself in a professional manner in alignment with Company values, including but not limited to language use, attire, and workmanship
In accordance with Company policy and relevant employment legislation, overtime and work outside of regular hours, and being on call may be required at the discretion of the Company

Key Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in automation or material handling
Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical schematics and layouts
Experience using SolidWorks
Strong understanding of electrical schematics, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems
Knowledge of motors, motor control systems, and automation hardware
Experience with custom automation, conveyors, or material handling systems (asset)
Resourceful and results-driven with a focus on completing tasks on time and within budget
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Effective in cross-functional teams and fast-paced environments
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Good communication skills with the ability to work with engineering teammates and shop floor staff
