WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH The Private Equity Operations Co-op/Intern plays a foundational role in supporting the Private Equity Finance Operations team during this 8-month co-op term. This position provides exposure to the daily operations of a major institutional investor's Private Equity department. The Co-op/Intern will gain hands-on experience in investment administration, data management, document organization, and basic finance operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for business or economics students to develop practical skills in a professional finance environment while contributing to the efficiency of the team. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Assist with routine financial reporting processes and data collection activities Monitor and manage shared email inboxes, responding to routine inquiries and directing complex matters to appropriate team members Assist with document organization, retrieval, and filing for investment transactions Support data entry and maintenance in financial systems with guidance from team members Help prepare meeting materials and coordinate scheduling for investment lifecycle events Assist with reconciliations and data verification under supervision Support team administrative tasks, including invoice processing and expense tracking Contribute to process documentation and workflow improvement initiatives Provide general ad-hoc support to the Finance Operations team REQUIRED SKILLS Must Have: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Business, Economics, or related program Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively Professional communication skills Demonstrated reliability and accountability Interest in finance, operations, and accounting Preferred: Previous experience with data entry and analysis Familiarity with financial or reporting systems Basic understanding of investment and accounting concepts Experience managing document workflows Previous experience working with financial reporting statements WHAT WE OFFER Gain exposure to private equity fund structures and investment operations Develop understanding of a variety of institutional investment processes including valuation, payments, accounting, asset allocation, forex, tax, and legal Learn about financial reporting requirements and practices Build skills in data management and financial systems Experience professional communication in a finance environment Observe investment in lifecycle events and operational workflows Excellent career development and training in the field of compliance and investments Work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment The development of real-world skills at one of the largest institutional investors in Canada Exposure to some of the most talented, approachable, and inspiring people in the industry The ability to opt-in for access to Dialogue, a user-friendly app that offers virtual primary care, employee and family services, and mental health supports Time to connect with Co-ops/Interns at BCI – build your network and shared learning Two paid days per year for volunteering Competitive pay: $2,745.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location THE DETAILS Work term: Winter & Summer 2026 (January to August) Department: Private Equity Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home.
