Nature & Scope → Your Role at Roots
The Senior Graphic Designer will work collaboratively with the Design Director to actively design, create, and execute the vision of the brand. In addition, the Senior Graphic Designer will have a firm understanding of Roots brand DNA and brings a strong point of view while leading, mentoring, and inspiring team members and/or direct reports.
Key Responsibilities → How You’ll Make an Impact
Collaborate with cross department Designers, Design Director / Sr. Design director each season to develop conceptual direction, provide research and graphics designs that meets seasonal Color and Concept to execute the vision of the brand.
Maintain creative direction aligned with brand concept and product line plans, considering assigned price points, particularly in terms of execution and application.
Interpreting the seasonal direction into appropriate designs for apparel, accessories, and general store product, with brand values in mind.
Evaluation of quality and execution for samples/strike-offs to ensure standards are met, clearly communicating with Product development and design team and makers, as required.
Presentation of new ideas/trends that may be appropriate for Roots and the ability to take critiques constructively.
Lead and support direct reports Designer/ Associate Graphic designer to ensure projects are completed in timely manner and adhere to the product calendar.
Able to troubleshoot and navigate situations, in order to pro-actively come up with creative solutions.
Regularly conduct thorough online research and attend market comp shopping to evaluate the competitor landscape and to further our creative inspiration inputs.
Travel to trade shows and vendors, as required
Qualifications & Experience → The Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, or a combination of college education and industry related work experience
8+ years experience in Graphic Design
Knowledge of production processes (printing, etc.) Packaging or Apparel production knowledge
Extensive knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) Experience in 3D software is an asset but not required.
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment, with the ability to manage multiple seasons at one time and track development deadlines
Ability to set overall creative tone and lead creative design process
Excellent communication skills of both presentation and team work environment
