Job Description
As a Class 1 Local Pick-up & Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for:
Completing local deliveries and pick-ups within Red Deer and the surrounding area in a timely and efficient manner
Conducting thorough pre and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with DOT regulations
Performing routine maintenance checks and reporting any vehicle issues to the maintenance department
Accurately loading and unloading freight, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo
Operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, when necessary
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date logs of driving hours, mileage, and delivery records
Assisting with dock work, including sorting, labeling, and organizing shipments
Providing excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients and addressing any concerns or special requests
Adhering to all company policies, safety procedures, and traffic laws
Maintaining a clean and organized vehicle interior and exterior
Collaborating with dispatch and other team members to optimize routes and delivery schedules
Participating in ongoing safety training and professional development programs
Demonstrating flexibility in availability to accommodate occasional schedule changes or additional shifts as required
A normal work week will be Monday to Friday; however, some flexibility in availability will occasionally be required to meet business needs and customer expectations.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Valid Class 1 license with a clean driving record
Minimum of 1 year of Class 1 driving experience
Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Reliable and dependable with excellent time management skills
TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certification
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification
Forklift certification (preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems and mobile devices
Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle inspections
Flexibility to work occasional overtime or weekends as needed
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be able to provide a criminal record check, driver's abstract, and 2 work-related references
