Supporting the Raytheon Technologies CORE (Customer Oriented Results & Excellence) Operating System, Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is looking for a dynamic, creative, and structured person willing to contribute to help P&WC meet business objectives through usage and implementation of continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing principles, practices, and tools. The student will be located within P&WC’s Halifax Operations facility and will be supervised and mentored by P&WC’s Principal Expert in continuous improvement/Lean manufacturing. This is a great opportunity because P&WC has only one CORE Principal and he will be sharing over 30 years of experience with the student. Duties will not be Halifax Operations specific as the student will be required to support CORE initiatives throughout all of P&WC’s global sites. The selected intern will be required to work with numerous P&WC personnel (shop employees, manufacturing analysts, suppliers, and manufacturing/quality engineers). Tasks will include application of continuous improvement methods such as value stream mapping, 5S, SIPOC, Capacity Analysis, OEE, balanced scorecards, Root Cause Analysis/problem solving, visual management, process mapping, skills matrix, RACI, and benchmarking. Additionally, facility layouts will be designed and modified using AutoCAD and Sketchup. What will your day-to-day look like? Analyze multiple types of data from Manufacturing, Quality, Assembly and Engine testing Domains. Develop systems and structures that will standardize continuous improvement approaches throughout P&WC Refine and create facility layouts using Sketchup and AutoCAD Improve and document processes using a suite of continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing methods Participate and lead investigations to identify Root Causes using the CORE problem solving method’s steps (Describe, Align, Investigate, Solve, Ensure) Support governance initiatives within the P&WC CORE team What do you need to be successful?
