Please note this a 6-month contract position.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Instrumentation Technician Geochemistry to join our team in Burnaby, Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and executing laboratory techniques, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate and efficient geochemical analyses.
Execute laboratory techniques independently, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to carry out geochemical analyses
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot various geochemistry instruments and equipment
Perform routine instrument checks for compliance and accurate testing results
Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
Record and interpret results in a timely manner, presenting findings to senior colleagues
Assist in preparing method SOPs, validation protocols, and reports
Inventory and manage laboratory supplies to ensure availability
Implement and maintain safe work practices, enforcing a clean and organized working environment
Assist in monitoring and checking the completion of daily health and safety checks, monthly meetings, and emergency protocols
Collaborate with team members to optimize laboratory processes and efficiency
Qualifications
BSc. or Diploma in a Science-related program, or equivalent experience/training
Minimum 1-3 years of relevant laboratory work experience, preferably in geochemistry
Proficiency in operating and maintaining various geochemistry instruments
Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures specific to geochemistry
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in using computer software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and good judgment in identifying and resolving issues
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions accurately
Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Good hand-eye coordination when handling samples and laboratory equipment
Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and quality control procedures
Ability to work well under pressure and manage conflicting demands
Flexibility to work extended hours and shifts as required
Willingness to travel to other locations occasionally
Commitment to compliance with company Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies
Additional Information
Salary: $20.50 per hour
