MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Member of a Telesat LEO SW Development team to optimize the software test
strategy, test process, and test cases to support the various features of
the LightSpeed system. The focus is testing advanced satellite OBP segment
software, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability, and
interworking with other segments.
- Defining Test Strategies: They develop overall testing strategies,
considering the project's requirements, the criticality assigned to the
software, and the available resources.
- Managing Test Resources: help manage the organic development of the test
framework on an ongoing basis to help the test campaign progress, whether on
simulated resources or the hardware.
- Ensuring Test Documentation: ensure across teams that all testing activities
are properly documented, including test cases, test results, test steps and
analysis reports.
- Collaboration: The successful candidate is an incredible collaborator with
other functional teams across segments, including developers, requirements
engineers, management, DevOps, scrum masters and product owners. Hands on
testing expected in the LEO Lab and in simulation for various data path and
routing features.
- Demonstrated ability to align different teams with disparate interests into a
single approach
- Ensure test cases maximize code coverage and that the software under test
meets technical and functional requirements. This must be driven at the
Lightspeed system level.
- Architect software solutions that adhere to Test-Driven Development (TDD)
principles and utilize simulated software to rigorously test code
functionality.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in satellite technology and
industry trends, driving innovation and maintaining technical excellence.
- Guide the team in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues,
ensuring the stability and reliability of OBP segment software.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into
effective technical solutions.
- Utilize expertise in cloud technology, virtualization, and containerization
to optimize test deployment and management.
- Leverage software modeling tools to create robust and efficient testing
architectures.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, helping to evolve development
processes, tools, and methodologies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or
a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience with hands on testing with various
technologies, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in software test
development for embedded software platforms as an architect
- Direct experience for large system test strategies and implementation that
spans a large development organization
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating
systems). Must have passion for simulated software testing frameworks and
getting the most of them with CI/CD
- Familiar with formal software testing approaches (requirements analysis, test
case definition, test script development, test data review, etc.)
- Strong experience and knowledge of Python and python-based automation
frameworks, such as Pytest, or Slash. Ideally a working knowledge of C++
(preferred experience in C++ embedded development strong networking
knowledge), experience with Git and/or similar version control systems.
Experience with cloud technology, virtualization, and containerization.
Experience with test management platforms, particularly Zephyr Scale.
- Understanding of satellite technology, ground segment operations, and
associated challenges.
- Excellent understanding of networking and routing protocols
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable of addressing intricate technical
challenges that cross team boundaries
- Excellent communication skills and influence across an organization, to
collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and simulated software testing
methodologies
- Ability to design automation software systems with consideration for hardware
resource constraints.
- Agile champion
DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION
- This is an Individual contributor role but as a Test architect, the
successful candidate will be responsible for making key technical decisions
and specifically exercising influence across the organization
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This role requires presence in the office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and
Friday
- Working conditions are comfortable, typical of an office environment.
