The CNC Machine Operator – Team Leader is responsible for supervising CNC machining operations, including the development of new programs, installation and use of equipment, as well as the production of high-quality parts. In addition to hands-on machining work, this position also involves leading, training, and supporting the CNC team to ensure optimal workflow, compliance with safety standards, and continuous process improvement.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Main Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Coordination
Supervise, coach, and support CNC operators, ensuring that team members understand priorities, processes, and quality standards.
Coordinate daily workflow, assign tasks, and monitor progress to meet production deadlines.
Act as the main point of contact to resolve technical or operational issues in real time.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging skills development and teamwork.
Production and Quality
Strong knowledge of Mazak machines and the Mazatrol language.
Ability to properly use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometer, telescoping gauge, etc.).
Skilled in tool setup and calibration.
Adherence to company quality standards.
Work efficiently while following safety guidelines.
Perform preventive maintenance as well as minor machine repairs.
Skills and Abilities
Proven leadership, with experience in supervision or training in a manufacturing environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
Advanced analytical ability and solid problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong knowledge of CNC programming and machining processes.
Good communication in French (an intermediate level of English is required).
Manual dexterity and strong mechanical aptitude.
Experience and Education
Diploma or certificate as a machinist or in a related field.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of CNC machining experience, including at least 1 to 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role (preferred).
Experience with different types of CNC machines and programming languages (e.g., Mazatrol) is an asset.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.
Proficiency in French and English is required for this position. (An intermediate level of English is required.)
Proficiency in English is required for this role as approximately 20% of the responsibilities involve regular communication with stakeholders based in the United States and Europe.
