Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Accountant with at least 5 years of experience to take ownership of our accounting operations and compliance requirements across multiple entities. This role will be the primary point of contact for all government and compliance matters, including the CRA, Revenue Quebec, and U.S.-based revenue departments.
You will oversee the integrity of our financial records, ensure timely compliance filings, and support decision-making by delivering accurate, insightful reporting. This role reports directly to our CFO, who is based overseas, so strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential.

Responsibilities
Government & Compliance
Act as the primary liaison for CRA, Revenue Quebec, IRS, and U.S. state revenue departments
Ensure timely and accurate filing of federal, provincial, and state tax returns (sales tax, income tax, GST/QST)
Oversee the preparation and submission of compliance documentation for banking and regulatory purposes
Month-End & Year-End
Oversee month-end close for multiple entities (Canada and U.S.) prepared by the bookkeeper
Review bank and credit card reconciliations, AR/AP balances, revenue recognition, COGS cut-off, and intercompany transactions
Coordinate year-end review preparation and correspondence with external auditors
Serve as the main point of contact for auditors during year-end review engagements and audits
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Maintain and update annual forecast models for budgeting and planning
Prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance analyses with insights on company and departmental performance
Maintain pricing and costing documents for products quarterly
Cash Flow & Payment Management
Review and update cash flow forecasts with the executive team
Maintain payment tracking for suppliers, ensuring alignment between QuickBooks and supplier statements
Operational Accounting Support
Ensure proper billing, fulfillment, and reporting for wholesale orders
Reconcile open purchase orders with units shipped
Support the implementation of new financial processes as business needs evolve
Requirements
CPA designation (or in the final stages of completion)
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. tax compliance requirements
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Experience managing the month-end/year-end close for multiple entities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams across multiple locations and time zones, as well as external stakeholders such as auditors, tax authorities, and suppliers.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Experience in e-commerce or inventory-based businesses is an asset
Public accounting experience is considered an asset
