BASIC FUNCTION The Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of equipment, materials, and supplies in accordance with established purchasing guidelines and company policies. This role will support all buying activities across Canada and will be based at the Perth, Ontario (CAPT) site. The ideal candidate will be bilingual (French/English), possess a strong understanding of technical parts and specifications related to engineering and maintenance, and be capable of working in a warehouse environment. RESPONSIBILITIES Arrange the purchase and delivery of materials, services, and supplies as identified by approved purchase requisitions. Place purchase orders with vendors, follow up, and expedite as needed to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods. Assist the Head of Operations, Managers, and Engineering in identifying contract opportunities for materials and services. Control costs through economies of scale and innovative purchasing techniques. Administer contracts for goods, services, and projects. Resolve purchasing-related issues for vendors and employees. Conduct vendor audits and assess performance relative to company needs. Review invoices for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in coordination with Department Heads. Provide SAP support to requestors and troubleshoot purchasing and vendor-related issues. Manage disposal of company assets in coordination with the Accounting Department. Implement and monitor regional purchasing programs for volume purchases at assigned locations. Train personnel on procurement programs and systems. Maintain safe working conditions and comply with QSHE standards. Perform duties in accordance with the Quality System Manual and company policies. Complete all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education A Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in a related field is preferred. Experience 3–5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting. Technical Skills Proficient with electronic purchasing systems, ideally SAP. Strong grasp of technical components and the ability to interpret engineering and maintenance specifications. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Soft Skills Excellent communication and organizational abilities. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Other Requirements Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written) is considered an asset. Physically able to work in a warehouse environment (must be able to lift up to 25 kg). Willingness to travel occasionally (expected to be less than 10%).
