Job Title: Community Liaison
Location: St. John’s, NL
Position Type: 1 full-time position until March 31, 2026, with possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance

Reporting to the Program Manager - Humanitarian Migrants, the Community Liaison supports the development and facilitation of information, orientation and community based services to support the integration of refugee claimants in Newfoundland and Labrador. This position will work to engage newcomers and their families to identify and respond to needs by developing programs including workshops, services and events working closely with case managers, ANC Employment Services, and government and community programs to assist individuals and connect them with resources, helping them successfully settle into life in Canada.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Create and develop information and orientation sessions and programs for newcomers on topics related to settlement and integration into NL
Identify, maintain, and build community partnerships to support newcomers and their families as they settle and integrate into the local community
Deliver orientation programs to newcomers, virtually and/or in person
Contribute to the development of the Welcome to NL program through the designing/maintaining of handouts/resources/videos/booklets following copyright and ANC/funder policies and procedures
Liaise and collaborate with case managers and other teams at the ANC as well as external organizations (such as RNC, Service Canada, OIM, etc.) to schedule, coordinate, and facilitate information sessions and required services
Deliver child and youth programming to clients in temporary accommodations
Coordinate with ANC Employment and other ANC divisions to ensure clients have access to available supports and services
Create, develop and maintain schedule of programs, client newsletters and other resources and tools to support the ongoing and consistent communication to clients
Ensure clients are connected to relevant community, cultural, religious and ethnic organizations to support settlement and integration in the province
Ensure timely entry of program and statistical data into NewOrg to ensure funder compliance
Participate in staff meetings, committees, boards, working groups, conferences and professional learning, as required or directed
Ensure program activities are delivered in a manner consistent with a trauma informed approach
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, or Humanities with a minimum of three years’ relevant experience or any combination of equivalent experience and education
Ability to effectively engage with a variety of stakeholders, including volunteer
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication (both written and verbal) skill
Demonstrated relationship-building and community connections skills
Possess cultural humility in working with a diverse client and employee group
Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to speak a second language an asset (French preferred)
Experience working with volunteers will be an asset
Experience working in the non-profit sector will be an asset
Conditions of Employment:
Legal authorization to work in Canada
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a reliable vehicle is preferred
Some travel may be required
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
