Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for Actuarial Intern to work in the Gen Re Life and Health operations. This is a Winter 2026 (January - April 2026) position and is based in our Canadian office, located in downtown Toronto.
Role Description
This role sits within the Pricing and Research team. The team is responsible for the acquisition and management of profitable reinsurance business for Gen Re's Life and Health operations in Canada, as well as conducting wider research to support client and strategic initiatives.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for aspiring actuaries to gain hands-on experience in the reinsurance industry and contribute to meaningful projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the analysis of insurance data to identify trends and assess risk factors
Support development and refinement of Actuarial models and methodologies
Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure accuracy in actuarial calculations
Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions
Collaborate with various departments to gather data and insights for actuarial analysis
Role Qualifications and Experience
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Passion for learning and a proactive approach to professional development
Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam
Experience with Moody’s AXIS is an asset
