ResponsibilitiesThis position provides support for the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology with coordination of information management (IM) activities and related projects throughout the division. IM coordination includes working closely with the departmental IM resources to coordinate and support IM activities and projects within all divisions of the laboratory including (but not limited to) laboratory information system (LIS) operations and modification requests, report requests, data storage management, IM oversight committee facilitation, divisional software systems, test implementation and IM project planning and prioritization. This position coordinates activities and alignments between practice/reporting and testing laboratories and provides IM guidance expertise to laboratory based IM specialists pertaining to test file building. This position interacts with department personnel, Mayo enterprise personnel, and external vendors as necessary to plan, facilitate, and coordinate IM activities and projects concerning the division of laboratory medicine and pathology. The IM Coordinator will participate and frequently lead the discussion of ongoing projects with other members of the assigned team(s), and is expected to identify future areas of potential development.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science (MT, Chemistry, Biology, Genetics, etc.) AND five (5) years’ work experience in a clinical laboratory setting required; OR, Master’s degree in education, sciences, or business AND two (2) years’ experience in a clinical laboratory setting required., Previous LIS experience is preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated applied project management experience and/or certification are highly desirable. Experience with operations and/or troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay/database/spreadsheet applications. Demonstrated leadership ability and management experience. Excellent human relation skills. Flexible, efficient, possess good organizational skills and respond positively to change. Self-motivation, attention to Experience with operations and/or troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation, assay/database/spreadsheet applications and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently. Knowledgeable of the concepts of continuous quality improvement and quality assurance. Ongoing willingness to upgrade job skills, education, and training.
Certification and License:
ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements
