Our Ideal Candidate:
We are currently seeking a Quality Technician (Concrete & Structural) to support our Elk Valley Resources project in British Columbia. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards through inspection, testing, and documentation of concrete and structural works.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct inspections and testing of concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, and related civil works to verify compliance with specifications and drawings.
Perform field sampling, slump, air content, temperature, and strength testing in accordance with CSA and ASTM standards.
Witness and document formwork, rebar placement, embed installation, and concrete pour activities.
Review and verify material certifications, mill test reports, and supplier documentation.
Prepare and maintain Quality Control (QC) and Inspection Test Record (ITR) documentation for turnover.
Support the QA/QC Supervisor and Construction Management Team in implementing the project’s Quality Management Plan (QMP).
Identify non-conformances, support corrective actions, and ensure timely close-out of quality issues.
Participate in pre-pour meetings, toolbox talks, and daily construction reviews.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on site.
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction quality control or testing, preferably in heavy industrial or mining environments.
Knowledge of concrete and structural inspection/testing procedures, including CSA A23.1 and A23.2.
Certification or training in concrete testing (e.g., ACI or CCIL Field Testing Technician) considered a strong asset.
Experience interpreting drawings, specifications, and quality documentation.
Strong attention to detail and ability to complete thorough field records.
Effective communication and teamwork skills in a multi-disciplinary construction environment.
Valid driver’s license and ability to work in a remote project setting on rotation.
Compensation & Rotation
Competitive hourly rate and LOA/travel allowance in accordance with project location.
Rotation schedule to be determined based on project needs.
