Are you a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic looking for meaningful work close to home? Join our Fleet and Facility Management department as a Fleet Services Technician, where you'll work alongside a supportive crew to keep our municipal bus fleet running smoothly and make a real difference in the lives of those who rely on public transit every day.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply your expertise in the Heavy-Duty Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician trade to perform thorough maintenance, servicing and repairs on buses and equipment that support the safe and efficient operation of our municipal fleet
Collaborate with a skilled team of technicians, while also demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation upon completing repairs on vehicles, equipment, and buses
Meet established time standards of all tasks and responsibilities to help maintain reliable transit services for the community
Qualifications and Skills:
Licensed Journeyperson Heavy Duty On-Road and Off-Road Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician
Licensed Red Seal would be considered an asset
Experience working on Transit buses (Nova, Alexander Denis, and New Flyer). Coach experience is also beneficial
Basic computer experience
Thorough knowledge and experience of equipment repair practices, procedures and preventative maintenance requirements
Knowledge of current electronic diagnostic programs for chassis and body systems
Ability to work with a large group and train apprentices with limited supervision
Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating the ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision
Knowledge and experience with working in a Fleet Management Program
Automotive experience would be considered an asset
Conditions of Employment:
Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Q endorsement is preferred
Ability to achieve Provincial Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) status
Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
Ability to work a variety of shifts and overtime may be required
Ability to be on-call (1 week per rotation)
