PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Specialist Technical Training Support plays a key role in supporting the training lifecycle, with a focus on regulatory compliance and operational excellence. This position requires attention to detail, multi-tasking, and strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all organizational levels, including senior leadership.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Schedule and coordinate requalification and first-day training for all qualified Locomotive Engineers (LE) and Conductors, including rules refresher training for Return to Work (RTW) and discipline employees
Track, monitor, and manage Re-Qualification (RQ) and First Aid training sessions for 3,000+ employees per year, ensuring all regulatory and compliance requirements are met
Ensure all employees complete assigned training and hold them accountable; manage multiple stakeholders and foster constructive tension to meet organizational priorities
Compile, distribute, and analyze surveys, including survey reporting using Power BI, and communicate findings to senior leadership
Maintain and update master class lists for training, including qualifications, resignations, dismissals, re-qualifications, and terminations; notify and engage key stakeholders accordingly
Prepare and present requalification reports for senior leaders; proficiently communicate attrition trends and compliance
Book and organize all internal and external training rooms and keep the facility’s front-end information board updated on current activities
Administer Learning Management Systems (LMS) records and applications (Red Cross, Crew Management Application)
Track all First Aid training expenses, manage and pay invoices through Ariba, and monitor accruals/expenses through MS Excel
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma with a preference for post-secondary education
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in training coordination, with proven ability to handle regulatory training requirements for a large workforce preferably in rail transportation
Working knowledge of MS Excel for expense tracking and data management, with a preference for experience using Power BI for reporting
High attention to detail and accuracy; adept at compiling and presenting detailed training and survey reports for decision-makers
Superior communication skills, able to convey data and compliance issues to senior leaders and executive audiences
Skilled in managing multiple stakeholders, building relationships, and holding others accountable for training completion

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
