As a Brake Out - General Labourer, you will assist department staff with tasks necessary to the effective operation of laser cutting machines to produce high-quality metal parts for machines dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. To excel in this role, a good level of manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment is required.
Location: 1556 Industrial Road, Cambridge, ON
Dedicated Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday
Job Duties
Work with tenured department staff to become adepts at loading raw material and unloading cut parts from a laser cutting machine for use in production
Assist with equipment maintenance and participate in implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime
Inspect finished parts for accuracy using precision measuring tools and equipment
Follow safety protocols and wear prescribed personal protective (PPE) equipment to prevent injuries
Utilize hand, power, and pneumatic tools as needed
Operate lifting devices, such as cranes (overhead, and/or jib) or vacuum lift, to move material
Skills & Experience
Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
Required to read and interpret work instructions
Collaborating with coworkers, effective communication and problem-solving skills
Physical requirements include heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), gripping, pinching, twisting, standing, climbing, and kneeling
Qualifications
Previous experience working in manufacturing or in hands-on roles; comfortable with work that can be both physically demanding with exposure to grease and oil
Experience working with hand or power tools is an asset
