Reporting to the Hätrʼunohtän Zho Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the preparation, delivery and administrative functions of Nitr’inkè-in Shi’ Hǫzǫ Tr’ëtä’àl (the Nutrition Program). Nitr’inkè-in Shi’ Hǫzǫ Tr’ëtä’àl delivers programs and services related to food and nutrition for TH families with children (18 years of age or under) residing in the Traditional Territory. When possible, Nitr’inkè-in Shi’ Hǫzǫ Tr’ëtä’àl offers limited services for TH families residing elsewhere. The incumbent manages the delivery of TH’s breakfast and lunch program at the Robert Service School (RSS), the Hamper Program, food supports for cultural programs delivered by the Education Department, and promotes and advocates for the value and use of traditional and local foods, food security and food sustainability. The incumbent supports Department staff in teaching Dënezhu-informed knowledge and ways regarding nutrition, food preparation and preservation, feasting, and the traditional role that food plays in strengthening our community. The incumbent also supports the development of a community service program in support of food security within the Traditional Territory. The position supervises kitchen staff, oversees meal planning, budgets, food and supply orders, and performs related administrative duties.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent, with course work in culinary arts or a related program, and significant experience in program coordination and administration. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Experience managing budgets and completing financial paperwork, inventories, menu plans and food orders and funding reports.
Experience supervising staff and providing direction, setting clear expectations and promoting a positive team environment.
Experience preparing nutritional, balanced and appealing meals for children and youth, including those with special dietary needs.
Experience coordinating high daily meal output (150 + meals per day) in a commercial kitchen environment.
Experience coordinating, preparing, and delivering feasts and meals at large gatherings.
Knowledge of, and experience implementing, health and safety standards and regulations related to the food service industry, including Food Safe and Environmental Health requirements.
Knowledge of, and experience with, local and traditional foods and their role in promoting community wellness.
Assets:
Camp cooking experience, especially in remote settings with limited equipment and access to water and power, is considered an asset.
Knowledge of Dënezhu principles and values associated with food, including proper gathering, preparation, serving, and ceremonial practices and of the cultural importance of food and nutrition (an asset).
Knowledge of sustainable food practices including recycling, composting, and minimizing food waste (an asset).
Experience facilitating workshops and leading learning opportunities (an asset).
Conditions of Employment:
Criminal records check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clear driver’s abstract an asset.
Standard First Aid, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire date.
Food Safe, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire date.
TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
