Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Supervised Access Worker provides supervision for children to visit with their non-residential parent in a safe, secure, child-focused, and neutral setting for families who are experiencing high conflict within their custody and access. We strive to deliver the highest quality services to our clients in partnership with community resources. This program is supported by the office of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Supervised Access is a multifaceted program that offers an important service to families in Frontenac and Lennox and Addington counties. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Client Management Supervise family visits according to Court orders or other relevant agreement. Communicate with program participants as required regarding childcare instructions, etc. Intervene when appropriate to ensure child safety and welfare and terminate visit when required. Provide feedback/correction to the relevant party as necessary. Maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professionalism. Ensure program participants always adhere to program guidelines and Agreement for Services Document accurately all visits/exchanges/cancellations/critical incidents using observational note taking. Administrative Obtain information gathered during supervised access visits and prepare accurate and detailed documentation of all visits in a timely manner. Collect and maintain client information and files as required Participate in staff meetings, information sharing and staff debriefing Document direct service family updates on a weekly basis for the Supervisor/and or Program Coordinator Site Maintenance Maintain safety of program participants through careful set up of sites. Oversee general maintenance, ensuring client cleanliness of areas accessed by program participants. Safety and Security Always maintain confidentiality of clients. Ensure safety of program participants within the Supervised Access Best Practices Document Critical Incidents and forward to Coordinator when required Training Participate in mandatory orientation training and ongoing professional development. Complete all mandatory Salvation Army training and sector specific training as required. Health & Safety Ensure that the work area is maintained regarding appearance, condition and safety as recommended by Public Health etc. Work in compliance with the OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as required. FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: • Collect and provide receipts for client user fees and report payments. WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a casual/relief ‘elect-to-work’ position with no standard weekly hours of work. There are no guaranteed hours; work will be offered as work becomes available. Flexibility is required to meet program requirements; weekend and evening work is required. The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule. Attend/participate in staff meetings as required. Working environment is typically in the office, program room/classroom in generally agreeable conditions. Ability to lift/move up to 30 pounds for set up and dismantling of equipment at each site. This job requires reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a standing position for periods of time. Travel is associated with this position Normal hours of operation: The direct service hours of operation are Thursday and Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A half hour unpaid meal break provided where applicable. Scheduled hours may vary from week to week. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS, SKILLS: Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Completed an Undergraduate University Degree in Social Work or Counselling. First Aid & CPR Certification Bilingual in English and French preferred. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification would be an asset. Experience and Knowledge Requirements Minimum two years’ experience working in a Supervised Access program, child welfare setting, or in a comparable setting working with children and families in crisis. Knowledge regarding the impact of separation and divorce on families, particularly children Negotiation, conciliation, and conflict management skills. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. Skills and Capabilities: Effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Proficient in working in a computerized environment; must demonstrate strong skills using Microsoft Office. Self-motivated/disciplined Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills. Ensure that the Supervised Access environment provides a safe and positive experience for staff, children, and families it serves. Lead by example, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change. Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics. Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgement. Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills and respect authority. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $21.83 to $27.29 with a maximum of $32.75.
