Salary Range: $58,878.88 – $67,500
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Specialist, HRIS & Payroll to join our team. This one (1) year contract role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, administration of the company pension plan, and the effective management of the Ceridian Dayforce HRIS.
As the internal subject matter expert, the Specialist ensures compliance with employment legislation, tax regulations, and pension requirements while maintaining data integrity across payroll, compensation, and HRIS functions.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
Process bi-weekly payroll in Dayforce with accuracy and timeliness.
Analyze, verify, and enter payroll data in accordance with company standards and audit requirements.
Ensure compliance with employment standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting.
Maintain accurate records for payroll, deductions, and year-end reporting (T4s, ROEs, etc.).
Conduct post-payroll audits and reconciliations.
Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers in a timely, professional manner.
HRIS Administration
Administer and maintain the Dayforce HRIS, including configuration, optimization, and data accuracy.
Manage system setup, pay codes, payroll calendars, and tax updates.
Generate and analyze reports to support business needs and decision-making.
Audit HR data related to new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
Lead integrations with third-party systems to streamline processes.
Pension Administration
Audit and validate pension enrollments, terminations, and contribution changes.
Process and reconcile pension contributions through payroll for accurate remittance to Canada Life.
Support annual audits and ensure compliance with pension plan rules and regulations.
Respond to pension-related inquiries from employees and managers.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure compliance with ESA, CRA, and pension regulations.
Identify and implement process improvements in payroll, HRIS, and pension administration.
Standardize procedures across departments to enhance system accuracy and efficiency.
Support internal and external audits and assist with year-end reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, or related field.
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation (or in progress) strongly preferred.
Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll, total rewards, or pension administration experience.
Experience with Ceridian Dayforce (highly preferred).
Strong knowledge of Ontario payroll legislation, ESA, and CRA requirements.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office Suite skills.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Continuous improvement mindset with strong technical aptitude.
Working Conditions
On-site 5 days per week with occasional flexibility.
Standard office environment with periods of sitting and standing as required.
