THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Accounting Manager to join our team for a 15-month contract, providing coverage for a maternity leave. In this role, you will be a key partner to the Controller, supporting all aspects of our accounting and financial reporting. This is a fully remote position ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment and excels at improving processes and taking initiative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting: Assist the Controller in preparing the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close processes, including the generation of accurate financial statements.
Reconciliations: Own the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including daily bank reconciliations and complex intercompany transactions across our various plants.
Tax Compliance: Manage all commodity tax filings (GST, PST, HST, QST) and assist in the review of corporate tax returns (T2) and related party transaction forms (T106).
Treasury & Corporate: Handle cross-border dividend entries and assist with the review of investment income slips (T5).
Asset & Debt Management: Prepare and maintain roll-forward schedules for fixed assets, debt, and lease payments, ensuring proper accounting treatment.
Analysis & Reporting: Support investor reporting, plant performance analysis, and prepare ad hoc reports as required.
Audit & Compliance: Play a key role in ensuring company-wide GAAP compliance and assist with the preparation of work papers for year-end external audits.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Participate actively in the annual budget process and contribute to interim forecasting.
Team Support: Provide guidance and support to the AP and AR departments for proper coding and process adherence.
Process Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to drive efficiency and accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate environment. A CPA designation is strongly preferred.
Technical Expertise: Strong general ledger accounting background, with experience in a multi-currency manufacturing environment being a significant asset.
System Skills: Expert-level spreadsheet skills in both MS Excel and Google Sheets.
ERP Skills: Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus.
Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical skills, a high degree of accuracy, and impeccable attention to detail.
Autonomy & Drive: A motivated self-starter; ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
Collaborative Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to thrive in a remote team environment, using tools like Google Meet, Chat, and Email effectively.
