The successful applicant will be required to work in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement as well as the applicable policies and procedures of Tla’amin Health and Tla’amin Nation. This position is open to applicants of all genders.
Key Responsibilities
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin laws, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures as directed by the Position. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to citizens, clients, employees, and general matters of the Nation.
Follows a lunch menu plan in accordance with accepted nutritional guidelines such as Canada’s Food Guide for healthy eating and the individual dietary needs of the children.
Prepares, cooks and serves lunch in accordance with safety and health standards and the approved menu plan.
Oversee the operation of the cooking facilities and equipment and ensure their cleanliness and maintenance.
Purchases and orders food items necessary for meal preparation and ensure purchases are within approved budget limits.
Daily - temperature checks of refrigerator and freezer
Weekly - deep cleaning and sanitizing stove, fridge, microwave
Monthly - freezer check and cleaning as required
Maintains an inventory of food and other related items.
Store food items following safety and health standards.
Receive and deliver groceries to classrooms on Mondays.
Perform other related duties as required by the manager.
Qualifications
Minimum Grade 12 preferred
Certification from a recognized Cooks Training Program preferred or a combination of education, training, and experience in cooking
Current Food Safe certificate
Successful Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector check
Class 5 BC Driver's License and clean driver’s abstract
Current TB Screening
Current Basic First Aid and CPR certification – or willingness to obtain
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Knowledge of Canada's Food Guide and healthy eating nutritional requirements
Physically fit - standing for periods of time and lifts & carries heavy food items
Work independently and as a team member
Verbal, written and reading skills
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in the CDRC. Hours of work 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
