How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Coordinator, Accounting Services supports the coordination of key day-to-day financial activities and services.
Major Responsibilities:
Performs quality assurance review of accounts payable, receivable and other financial activities for accuracy and completeness; collaborates with other accounting team members to ensure consistency in approach
Responds escalated accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and general accounting inquires
Identifies and investigates any issues with provider bills and obtains mutual resolution of discrepancies
Administers and processes procurement card statement logs and monthly journal entry, corporate vehicle and equipment usage and processing of 407 charges; reviews related monthly statements for accuracy and ensuring appropriate authorization in compliance with policy
Creates and maintains financial accounting reports; supports month end close process, forecasts, cost analysis, to support financial reporting and business/operational analysis.
Analyses data and information to summarize account information, identify trends and discrepancies that require attention
Prepares accounting reports and information as required for audit purposes
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting or related field
Experience
2+ years of experience in a finance or accounting environment
Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
Sounds experience with financial systems, management controls, processes and tools
Understanding of transactional accounting principles
Understanding and application of basic mathematical functions (e.g., adding, subtracting, measuring, money computation)
Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs
Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
Demonstrated ability to prepare consultant terms of reference and procurement documents
Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint, coupled with advanced MS Excel capabilities for analysis
