Introduction to role: Are you ready to lead the charge in transforming patient care through Real World Data (RWD)? As the Senior Director of the Real World Data Office, you will be at the forefront of delivering RWD capabilities for BioPharmaceuticals Medical and AstraZeneca. This pivotal role involves partnering across Therapeutic Areas and functional areas to address diverse RWD needs, while spearheading our enterprise RWD strategy. You'll be responsible for identifying, validating, acquiring, and governing RWD sources to maximize their impact on patient care. Collaborate with internal teams and influence the external RWD ecosystem to drive innovation and unlock the full potential of RWD for patients. Accountabilities: Build the RWD landscape for BioPharmaceuticals Medical, planning for existing and future needs across Therapeutic Areas Source or partner externally to access patient-level secondary RWD, managing budgets and contracts Oversee validation and governance of acquired RWD datasets Lead expansion of RWD engineering capabilities, including AI-based solutions Ensure compliance with rules and regulations for RWD access, use, and storage Develop operational guidance and best practices for the RWD Office Foster a knowledge-sharing community for RWD practitioners on latest trends and opportunities Collaborate with IT & Enablement teams on platforms and tools for RWD assets Ensure strategic alignment of RWD platforms, purchases, access, and governance Lead Clinical Programming team to validate data quality for primary data assets and study outputs Maintain awareness of new developments in RWD trends and technologies Act as a liaison between BioPharmaceuticals Medical and other teams utilizing data tools Essential Skills/Experience: Minimum of an MPH, MSc or PhD in analytic or healthcare discipline Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in RWD analytics and management Team leadership experience with excellent inter-personal, conflict-resolution and team building skills Strategic thinker with strong leadership, listening & influencing skills Exceptional communication and presentation skills Extensive project and budget management expertise Experience working with Information Technology and Platform teams Experience working with and managing suppliers / third parties Proven history of delivering value to fast-paced organizations Excellent organizational and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple engagements An agile thinker, open to new ideas and able to quickly design and implement entrepreneurial customer-focused solutions Knowledge of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development processes and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Desirable Skills/Experience: Extensive hands-on experience with RWD analysis and proficiency in analytic platforms (e.g., R, Python, SAS) Experience working and delivering impact in a global organization In-depth understanding of medical strategy, methodologies and tools (RWD, evidence generation, study development and delivery) At AstraZeneca, we are driven by a passion for science and innovation that fuels our ambition to break new ground.
