Unposting Date: 2025-11-07 11:59 PM This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines. Why is this role important? Are you ready to play a strategic role at the forefront of Radio-Canada’s digital revolution? Are you passionate about automation, cloud infrastructure and the DevOps culture? Digital Media’s DevOps team is looking for a lead developer to act as a technical leader. We are a key technology pillar that supports all of Radio-Canada’s digital products and services. We manage a large-scale infrastructure, primarily on Azure, and are central to ensuring the availability, performance and security of our platforms. As a technical leader, you will have a core, purely technical role — this is not an administrative management position. You will serve as a go-to resource and mentor for the team, collaborating closely with the architect and project lead to translate the strategic vision into robust, well-executed solutions. You will be the technical authority for code quality, best practices and the operational excellence of our cloud infrastructure. How you will make an impact: Leadership: Act as the main technical authority and mentor for the DevOps team. Guide developers toward the right technical implementations and ensure new team members are successfully onboarded. Quality: Ensure that code reviews (PRs) are performed thoroughly and in line with team best practices. Evolve engineering practices and standards for the team. Planning and Execution: Assist the project lead with task planning, breakdown and estimation. Ensure that the team is not blocked and that the work sequencing is optimal. Architecture and Strategy: Communicate technical risks and issues to the architect and manager. Contribute to selecting tools and champion the value of addressing technical debt. Hands-on Contribution: Actively participate in development (approximately 30-50% of the time) on non-critical tasks like proofs of concept, cloud infrastructure maintenance or setting up new builds, without ever being on the critical path of a delivery. Technical Oversight: Oversee the architecture and evolution of CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) and define standards for Infrastructure as Code solutions (Terraform, Terraspace). Collaboration: Ensure technical co-ordination with other teams and collaborate on cross-functional issues related to governance, security (DevSecOps) and costs (FinOps) in the cloud. We are looking for a candidate with the following: Minimum Requirements Education and Experience: University degree in computer science or equivalent experience, combined with a minimum seven years of related experience, including two years in a technical leadership role (e.g., team lead, tech lead, senior mentor). Inclusive technical leadership, excellent communication skills and a proven talent for explaining complex technical concepts and mentoring colleagues. Advanced knowledge of operating systems, especially Linux. Strong proficiency with a cloud ecosystem, primarily Microsoft Azure. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Solid experience with automation using Terraform. In-depth knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) techniques and hands-on experience with YAML pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar). Strong knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Networking and Infrastructure: In-depth knowledge of infrastructure configurations, network protocols, firewalls, load balancing and content delivery (CDN). Experience with at least one language like Python, Go or Node, in addition to a scripting language like Bash or PowerShell. Proficiency with Git. Languages: Solid command of spoken and written English and French in a professional context. Assets (Nice-to-Have Skills) Experience with a framework for Terraform, such as Terraspace. Experience with Windows system administration. Practical knowledge of technologies such as MongoDB (Atlas), Elasticsearch, Azure SQL and Redis. Familiarity with development environments using C#, Node.js or TypeScript. Knowledge of governance, security (DevSecOps) and cost management (FinOps) in a cloud environment. Strong interest in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban). Personal Qualities: Strategic mindset, independence, analytical approach and excellent teamwork skills. Perks you can look forward to: Flexible work schedules, allowing you to prioritize yourself, your family and your work. Work-from-home opportunities (hybrid or full-time). Competitive total rewards package. Opportunities to work with cutting-edge technology. Opportunities for continued learning and professional development. Pair programming and mentorship opportunities. A creative and dynamic work environment, where your ideas and contributions can be heard, valued and respected.
