Company Description
MEDFAR Clinical Solutions was founded in 2010 by two aeronautical engineers who realized that the healthcare system was not exploiting the full potential of technology. Supported by a large community of medical experts and focused on clinical success and patient safety, MEDFAR was the first company to certify a cloud-based Electronic Medical Record in Canada: MYLE (Make Your Life Easy).
Committed to promoting excellence and effectiveness in healthcare worldwide, MEDFAR differentiates itself by offering a unique healthcare management solution for clinics, which replaces inefficient processes with a faster and safer technological alternative.
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Product Owner to lead the development of foundational AI capabilities at MEDFAR. In this high-impact role, you’ll drive the delivery of core components that power our AI initiatives, from intelligent document parsing to our LLM orchestration layer and dynamic prompt routing. You’ll collaborate closely with our AI team and product management leadership to structure workflows, ensure clarity in execution, and establish quality, ethical, and data safety standards.
If you thrive in environments where you can introduce structure, drive strategic impact, and bring clarity to ambiguity, this is your opportunity to shape the backbone of MEDFAR’s AI-powered future.
The Team & Environment
Our AI team is a small, deeply technical group that’s just getting started. We operate like a startup within the company, lean, fast, and ambitious. While the team excels at technical experimentation and prototyping, we’re looking for someone to help scale these capabilities into robust, production-ready platforms.
You’ll be the first dedicated product owner embedded in the team, playing a pivotal role in shaping both the what and the how. Your work will directly impact internal developers, product teams, and ultimately the clinicians and patients we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Product Structuring & Execution
Partner with product management to break down strategic goals into actionable technical requirements.
Own the planning and prioritization of features, tech enablers, and infrastructure components.
Translate broad outcomes into detailed backlogs and well-scoped technical work.
Coordinate closely with engineering leads to ensure delivery milestones are well-defined and met.
Collaboration with Product Management
Act as the connective tissue between business goals and technical execution.
Ensure AI foundational work aligns with the needs of product teams and clinical workflows.
Regularly engage with product leadership to maintain alignment and adjust priorities based on evolving needs.
Oversight of Quality, Data Safety, and AI Ethics
Be a gatekeeper for AI outputs, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with security and legal to align on privacy, fairness, and data governance practices.
Guide the definition of evaluation metrics and approval thresholds for model behavior.
Technology Scouting & Thought Leadership
Stay informed on advancements in AI infrastructure, open-source tooling, LLM frameworks, and MLOps best practices.
Bring ideas to the table for how emerging tools and research can be practically applied within our systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years in product ownership. This must include a minimum of 2 years working on AI/ML or technical infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams at the intersection of engineering and product management in ambiguous environments. Requires a strong technical understanding of ML workflows, data pipelines, or LLM frameworks.
Deep familiarity with the AI/ML landscape, including model development, deployment, and the security/ethical aspects of AI. Experience in healthcare, EHRs, or regulated industries is strongly preferred.
Must be a structured thinker with exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Comfort making trade-offs and prioritizing under uncertainty is essential.
Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment is a plus, along with exposure to modern AI/LLM concepts like prompt engineering, RAG, or LLMOps.
