This role will provide technical leadership in product selection, design implementation, troubleshooting and reliability improvement of mechanical equipment across operating assets, while offering guidance to project teams where required. The ideal candidate will have a broad expertise in refining process rotating equipment (ex. Pumps, compressors), static equipment (pressure vessels and exchangers) along with a solid understanding of instrumentation and control systems and the ability to interpret Piping & Instrument (P&IDs), process flow and cause and effect diagrams. This role requires not only strong technical competence but also exceptional leadership, communication and collaboration skills. What you’ll do: Apply Risk-Based reliability tools such as FMEA and RCM to optimize maintenance and equipment strategies in collaboration with engineers. Evaluate Preventive Maintenance activities for effectiveness and efficiency and recommend improvements. Analyze and categorize Production Losses data to identify trends and identify mitigating activities. Leads root cause analysis and drive actions implementation, track and look back to ensure effectiveness. Apply reliability engineering tools and statistical methods to evaluate and enhance equipment life cycle and overall reliability performance. Leads Bad Actor Program, including data analysis, equipment selection, and development of recommendations to drive issue elimination. Justifies and leads projects for reliability/availability improvements. Use Life Cycle Costing principles and Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) analysis to drive long-term reliability and plant performance improvements. Proficient in maintenance and reliability best practices, ensuring plant performance metrics and KPIs are effectively aligned with business objectives. Collaborate with Reliability & Maintenance practitioners across the company to transfer knowledge and better define Reliability and Maintenance fundamentals and concepts. Who you are: Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements: Legally authorized to work in Canada Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Minimum 12 years of engineering experience in reliability engineering, operating refinery, upgrading or chemical plant Production selection, design implementation, troubleshooting and operational experience covering typical mechanical equipment in a refining environment. Broad and detailed knowledge of industry standards, reliability best practices. Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional certificate (CMRP) considered an asset.
