Position Summary: Under the direction of the Shift Manager, the Host creates the first impression for guests upon entering the restaurant. The host must be friendly, engaging and customer-focused while greeting guests in a prompt and courteous manner. This role will work in conjunction with front of house team members to maintain the highest quality of service and hospitality while ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities:
Create a welcoming and friendly environment for guests.
Greet and seat guests in the area of choice and distribute menus.
Engage with guests as they are being seated to advise of any specials, understand dining needs and communicate with serving team accordingly.
Explain how various menu items or beverages are prepared if necessary.
Provide assistance to the serving team as needed.
Perform opening and closing duties as required.
Maintain accurate records, waitlists, and reservations.
Ensure tables are allocated in a manner that supports service excellence and confirm table availability by communicating with server assistants.
Assist Porters and Server Assistants with running food and beverages, resetting tables, and maintaining a seamless service flow.
Communicate effectively with back of house and management to anticipate and resolve issues.
Stay informed about the menu, including allergen information, to provide accurate information regarding food preparation with extensive detail and menu knowledge.
Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualification Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of hosting duties in a fine dining restaurant environment.
Experience with Open Table is an asset.
Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills.
Able to handle multiple tasks at a time while remaining poised and professional.
A passion for providing a Great Experiences and Memories to all client, both external and internal.
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability plan effectively and work without direct supervision.
