Objective:
Reporting to the Data & Analytics Director within IT department, the Data Engineer will play a key role in the growth of the Data and Analytics practice at Joseph Ribkoff In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and models that support business intelligence and analytics solutions. You will work closely with data analysts, business stakeholders, and data architects to ensure efficient data delivery, integrity, and usability.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, OneLake, etc.)
Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL databases, APIs, cloud storage, etc.) into centralized data platforms.
Optimize data workflows for performance and cost in cloud-based environments.
Build and maintain data models and data marts to support Power BI reporting and analytics.
Ensure data quality, security and governance through monitoring and validation
Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies
Contribute to the technical documentation of data flows
Drive best practices in data modelling, performance optimization and metadata management
Always be on the lookout for possible improvements to the platform.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar roles
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (Information Technology, Data Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodology
Strong interest in cloud computing technologies and modern platforms.
Ability to transform business requirements into technical specifications and intuitive visualizations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in Data migration to a cloud platform
Communicates effectively with internal and external team members
Has a good understanding of the customer's business issues and data challenges
Excellent team spirit and excellent ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Good communication skills in French and English, written and spoken
Good knowledge of the manufacturing, distribution and/or retail industry is an asset.
Technical Skills:
High proficiency in SQL
Good knowledge of data modelling (SQL DB, Power BI service, SSIS, SSRS, stored proc.)
Expertise in Microsoft Fabric (e.g. Data Warehouses, Lakehouses, Pipelines) or Snowflake (e.g. Virtual Warehouses, Snowpipe, Time Travel)
Experience building and maintaining Power BI solutions, including DAX, Power Query, and workspace management
Experience in programming languages like Python/R to apply it in a data integration context
Knowledge of the different components of the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.)
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in data projects
Knowledge cloud computing platforms such as Azure is an asset
Experience with dbt, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or similar tools is an asset
