HR title and level: Salaries typically range from $109,810 to $146,413 annually, based on qualifications and experiences.
Location:
Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 3 days per week. (subject to change)
This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.

Team Overview
As EDC aims to be the leader in helping all Canadian exporters go, grow, and succeed internationally, the marketing team has an ambitious agenda to deepen exporter engagement. As part of the Chief Operations Group (COO), the Marketing Strategy and Effectiveness (MSE) team is seeking a Manager, Marketing Operations to manage the Operations and Martech teams and support them in delivering on several initiatives related to the efficiencies and effectiveness of the greater Marketing department. The MSE team is supports the needs of our Brand, Demand Generation, Customer Experience, Customer Analytics, Martech and Web Experience teams who deliver on initiatives that support EDC’s strategy.
What you will be doing:
As a member of the marketing leadership team, you will oversee marketing technology, optimize workflows, manage scaled marketing initiatives, ensuring data integrity, and lead cross-functional teams to improve marketing performance and efficiency while supporting the business objectives.
This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on management to align marketing priorities, processes and technology with business goals, while balancing implications on results and resourcing. It also entails the mentorship of staff.
Reporting to the Director, Marketing Strategy & Effectiveness, the Manager, Marketing Operations will focus on managing, developing and supporting teams responsible for the following areas.
Key responsibilities
Marketing technology (MarTech) management:
Support critical business objectives and drive innovation within Marketing using technology to gain efficiencies while enabling improved customer experiences.
Administer and integrate the marketing technology stack.
Strategic planning:
Contribute to marketing department’s strategic plan with a focus on improving overall marketing performance.
Operationalize the integrated marketing plan, while maintaining continuous aligned with the corporate strategy.
Workflow and process optimization:
Design, implement, and refine operational workflows to improve efficiency, identify automation opportunities, and reduce friction between teams.
Manage risk and compliance with proper processes while adhering to best practices for marketing privacy and to EDC policies (e.g. customer data and privacy, archiving policies and business continuity plans)
Scaled Marketing Initiative planning and execution:
Oversee scaled initiative planning, sprint management, and execution across various teams, managing priorities, dependencies, while ensuring data accuracy consistent branding and customer experience.
Facilitate operations review sessions with the leadership team and at scaled to ensure on-going alignment across priority projects, raising issues related to scope, prioritization and capacity issues.
Maintains reporting in the work management tool Azure DevOPS (ADO) to provide visibility to Marketing initiative status, with real-time insight.
Oversees the Marketing Operations and Martech team backlogs, ensuring the work is prioritized to meet MSE year-end objectives.
Reporting and data analytics:
Measure and demonstrate continuous operational efficiency improvements.
Analyze Marketing performance metrics to optimize marketing efforts, generate reports, and ensure data integrity for reporting and strategic decision-making.
Brings visibility to leadership on areas resources are diverted to non-performing initiatives and/or not aligned to strategy and provides recommendations on where the department should maintain investments and resourcing in innovation and high value activities.
Cross-functional collaboration:
Work with various teams internal and external to the Marketing departments to ensure seamless project delivery and alignment on goals.
Building high performing team and healthy workplace culture:
Help create an environment where marketers are engaged, happy and running sustainably.
Manage ongoing education opportunities and competency development for the Marketing OPS team members and the Marketing function.
What we are looking for:
Operations expertise: 7 yrs experience in Operations (preferably in Marketing) and at least 3+ years in a leadership role or mentoring capacity, especially as related to operations and technology.
Proven experience operationalizing marketing plans, translating strategic goals into executional roadmaps and processes.
Strategic and analytical skills: can demonstrate ability to think strategically, critically analyze data, and translate insights into actionable plans.
Proven track record of being results oriented.
Understanding of Marketing-like initiatives operations (e.g. campaigns) lead flow, and funnel optimization.
Hands-on technical proficiency in key tools such as CRM, work management and analytics tools (e.g. Salesforce, Asana, Monday.com, PowerBI or equivalent)
Project and process management: strong organizational skills with the ability to manage many complex projects, involving many teams and dependencies and able to optimize processes for scalability.
Leadership and communication: excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior colleagues.
Problem-solving: proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and resolving operational challenges.
Bilingual in both official languages (English and French) – minimum speaking proficiency (Level B2).
What will make you stand out:
Experience working in or with sales or channel departments.
Experience working with members of the trade ecosystem.
Strong Marketing acumen.
Knowledge of Azure Deve Ops or similar tool.
Experience facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all levels.
