Principal Validation Engineer, NPI Job Summary: Semtech’s Signal Integrity Products (SIP) group designs and manufactures high performance mixed-signal integrated circuits for the world’s leading data and video communication companies to enable their next-generation products. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for validation of complex integrated mixed signal ICs for high speed data communication networks. In addition to validation ownership, this person is required to collaborate with design, test, systems, qualification and support customer requests. Strong communication skills are required to interface with cross-functional internal teams throughout the product development process. Fast and effective test solutions along with presentation skill set is required. Primary responsibilities: Participate in new product design meetings and drive test features required for the successful evaluation of new products. Validation test solution development for new products (software/hardware/documentation). Actively participate in the product development teams throughout the NPI cycle. Collaborate with designers, product, test and applications engineers. New product bench evaluation and characterization. Identification of bench-top test equipment for the validation of new products. Creation of validation and characterization reports. Drive validation and characterization review meetings. Development of test equipment automation software using Python. The right candidate will be able to: Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships across all functions within a project team (design, product, characterization, test, applications, marketing etc.). Work to aggressive project timelines. Multitask with multiple projects in different lifecycle phases. Minimum Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline. 10+ years experience in semiconductor and optical testing, and having a proven track record of developing robust, high quality and efficient validation solutions; Proficient in Python, and experience with analysing large data sets High level of semiconductor device knowledge including digital, analogue and mixed-signal techniques, as well as a clear understanding of translation of DFT to test coverage on the bench. Knowledge of PCB design flows, and experience in schematic level hardware design. Proven analytical and problem solving skills. Desired Qualifications Knowledge of PCB design flows, and experience in schematic level hardware design. Track record of developing test solutions for testing higher rate (>25Gb/s) mixed signal ICs.
